Authentic Antiques - A guide to collecting

Posted on Monday 18 February 2008

My interest in antiques started a long time ag, but I didn't understand the true value of various pieces until I read the ebook A Guide To Antiques. It gave me a broad understanding of what to look for when collecting antiques, antiquing and also testing for authenticity with a black light. When looking at antique furniture the Thomas Chippendale legacy needs to be understood as well as being able to identify the Biedermeier Furniture Style. How do I look after and preserve the beautiful pieces once I bring them home. My knowledge was aroused as to other forms of antiques like antique glass -the Depression lamps and Tiffany lamps in particular.

Every girl loves jewellery and antique jewellery is NO exception.

I got so excited with my collecting fettish that I kept reading and discovered other forms of antique collection niches I would never have thought of like, collecting tin toys, scrimshaw antiques, clockmaking, collecting armish quilts and the style of the Chinese Tang Dynasty, which absolutely fascinated me!
